Biblical Telling 101 - for new tellers!
with Linnea Good

Learning biblical stories and wisdom sayings is a way of going deeper with the Word, of listening more fully to God, of delighting in the insights that come with repetition, of discovering the attention that is given when you say to someone: “Can I tell you a story?” Linnea Good offers a method for “by-hearting” that takes the teller far beyond memorizing, into practices that increase memory and allow us to draw on our own learning and remembering styles.

Our workshop will hold prayer and reflection, and offer ample time to marinate in the Word through telling. You will learn methods of enhancing your memory for the flow of story, identify ways in which the ancients left “clues” for the remembering of their words, and receive encouragement and coaching. A portion of our by-hearting time will be “walked”, and so we look forward to time in solo practice as well as with one another.

Linnea Good is a composer, performer, worship leader, accredited biblical storyteller and Christian educator. Well known in the Canadian church, she has written music for hymn resources around the globe. She and drummer-spouse David Jonsson live in Summerland BC, where they strike an un-balance between Linnea's local and online music teaching, and their work in concerts, conferences, missions and worship animating for the wider Church, along with the weekly "Ukulele Church". She and David have been blessed to travel regularly to India where they have witness the impact of biblical storytelling among Christians there. Linnea heads the Network of Biblical Storytellers Canada, which hosts an exciting annual festival of telling. She has recorded weekly videos of lectionary-based scripture for an online audience since the first day of lock-down.
