Prepare to Tell the Christmas Story

“…..and she gave birth to her first born son, and wrapped him in _______  and laid him _________   because there was no ________

I bet you could fill in at least one of those blanks. That story kind of gets into your heart and soul and deep memory.

And there’s great news! This November, you have a chance to work at learning the Christmas story by heart. Whichever part of it you want to concentrate on.

Maybe you want to learn it just for yourself.
Maybe you want to learn it to tell it to your grandchildren, or other children in your life.
Maybe you want to learn it to tell it by heart at a Christmas meeting of your committee or board or Bible Study
Or even at church on Christmas eve.  GULP!
So many reasons - but the greatest of them all is the blessing of having those words, that story, in your heart.

Let me know if you want to take part. It will be a 5 week commitment. Every Sunday night during November we’ll gather online:
4pm pacific time (5pm mountain time, 6pm central time, 7pm eastern time, 8pm atlantic time, 8:30pm Newfoundland time)

Bev Brazier will, again this year, lead the online group, offering some theory, some tips, and coaching from her many years of sharing the bible by heart in ministry.

Then you’ll work on the actual practice of Biblical Telling.

You can choose which part of the story you want to learn:

Luke 2:1-7
Or the full Lukan story at Luke 2:1-20
Or Matthew’s version in Mt 1:18-25
Your choice

Let Bev know by October 25/25 if you want to be part of this warm, prayerful, liturgical communal practice. Let it be part of your Advent journey. If Mary and Joseph made it to Bethlehem, we can do this!

Leadership: (the inimitable) Rev Bev Brazier

Rev Beverly Brazier was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, the oldest of three children born to Gertie Saville Brazier and Bill Brazier. Rooted and grounded in the Precambrian Shield of Northwestern Ontario, she is even more deeply rooted and grounded in the grace of the Holy One, who has been with her through a lifetime of adventures of many kinds.

Ordained to the ministry of Word, Sacrament and Pastoral Care by Maritime Conference in May of 1984, she has served the Church in Hunter River PEI, Parrsboro Nova Scotia, New Richmond/Grande Cascapedia Quebec, Miramichi NB, Canterbury / Debec / McKenzie Corner NB, Pool's Cove NL and, before retiring, in Whitehorse YK. She has a passion for ministry in small communities - and for the scriptures. She is deeply attentive to the needs of the people in the place she inhabits, nurturing the church to be a centre point of peace and action. Her friends call her a "spiritual powerhouse", "crazy as a coot", a fierce advocate for reconciliation, and a biblical storyteller to the core. Though, as you might expect, not exactly putting up her feet in retirement, she says that this past year has called her to be still; to move deeply into a practice of gratitude, silence and reflection, to discern what the Spirit is up to these days and where the gaps are.
