Saturday, Oct 17/25 - 9-10:30am (pacific)

Event Handouts (stay tuned)
This interactive workshop brings together the concepts of speed drawing and storytelling to bring Bible stories to life. Learn how to draw simple, quick Bible characters, objects and animals while the story is being told, making Scripture visual, engaging, and easy to remember.

This workshop shows how art can become a powerful tool for learning, memory and spiritual connection. Suitable for all ages and skill levels, it offers a creative way to experience the Bible through visual stimulation, hands-on participation, along with storytelling.

Leadership: Renée De Waal

Renee De Waal has been an artist for as long as she can remember, using creativity as a lifeline for healing through a difficult childhood and many life challenges. Art has shaped not only her personal journey, but also her calling to help others heal.

Renée is a trained schoolteacher and skilled carpenter who rebuilt an old school bus into a mobile art classroom. She founded the not-for-profit School of Whales Art Society through which she now uses the bus to drive to Indigenous reserves to teach healing and mental health–focused art, along with sewing and woodwork.

She also helps run summer Bible camps for Indigenous children in southern Alberta. In her free time, she continues to create through painting, chainsaw carving, and building beautiful, meaningful works. Renee’s passion lies in using art as a powerful tool for connection, healing, and hope.
